Victorian anaesthitist Dr Peter Brown has hay to donate to Central West farmers but doesn’t have the means to deliver it.

His dilemma has been solved by the Feed4Farmers group which has organised a truck, donated by Orange liquor group D’Aquinos, to head south to collect the bales.

An administrator for Feed4Farmers Larlee Ramsay said they were working through the details.

“We’ve got the means to go and get it,” she said.

She said the group had been in touch with Dr Brown to organise how and when they could collect the hay and deliver it to farmers struggling in the drought.

Ms Ramsay said the aid group had grown quickly to 2000 members in the past few weeks as more people offered help.

She said she had been involved in collecting donations of dog food for farmers.

“We’re already getting donations of the small hay bales, dog food, water and hampers of food and distributing them to the farmers,” she said.

“They are now screaming for help.”

Another Feed4Farmers administrator Darren Barrett said Dr Brown had agreed to them collecting the hay.

“Basically he is willing to donate 50 bales of hay to us,” he said.

And Mr Bennett said Dr Brown had made another offer to provide agistment on his land for any farmers with prized cattle who were struggling to feed them in NSW.

“His place at the moment is looking a bit like paradise,” he said.

“We are going through all the logistics at the moment.”

Mr Bennett said Feed4Farmers had been contacted by D’Aquinos to use one of their trucks for the hay run.

“They are looking at using one of their trucks and they are looking at finding the most suitable trailer,” he said.

Mr Barrett said they had not yet determine how they would allocate the hay when it arrived in the Orange region.

“That’s one of the problems we are going to face,” he said.

Mr Barrett said the group had been involved in providing water for farmers.

Dr Brown contacted the Central Western Daily this week with his offer saying he had enough round bales of hay to fill one, and possibly two, semi-trailers.
