Gun shooters turn out for Len Bird Gold Cup | Photos

The 2018 Len Bird Cowra Gold Cup Shoot was conducted on  August 4 and 5 in beautiful weather conditions.

The event attracted close to 100 participants of all levels from AA Elite through to C Grade and also included Ladies, Veterans and Junior competitors.

President Mick Crowe was pleased with the result.

“It was highly successful 2018 Len Bird Cowra Gold Cup in perfect conditions. Great atmosphere, friendly people and a wonderful time was had by all,” he said.

The overall winner of the SUPERB JEWELLERY Gold Cup for the entire weekend was Ben Woodhouse from Sydney with the score of 370/375.  A great achievement.

Winners of the major events were Kim Nealon – Telescope Tyres Single Barrel 60/61.

Wayne (Charlie) Smith – Cowra Services Club Double Barrel 98/98.

Tracey Barton – Kilby’s Heating & Cooling Pointscore 234/234 and Wayne (Charlie) Smith – Railway Hotel Double Barrel 169/169.

Local shooters to feature in the winner’s circle included Kim Nealon taking out the TELESCOPE TYRES SINGLE BARREL CHAMPIONSHIP with the excellent score of 60/61.


Jack Thompson took out C Grade with 48/50 and Col O’Leary won Veterans on 50/50. 

Jack Thompson also gained second in C Grade in the KILBY’S HEATING AND COOLING POINTSCORE CHAMPIONSHIP with 127/150. Congratulations to all.

This shoot continues to attract competitors from all over to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere among friends while still striving to post good scores and chase that elusive Gold Cup.
