The visit is the choir’s 21st to Cowra.
Led by conductor Hiroshi Masumoto, Chor-Farmer has visited Cowra every two years since 1976.
They will perform only two concerts in Australia, with a performance in Adelaide, followed by a concert at the Cowra Civic Centre on Friday evening, September 14 at 7pm.
All proceeds from the Cowra concert will go to the Cowra Seikei Student Exchange Programme which this year is celebrating its 49th year of continuous 12 month exchange between Cowra High School and Seikei High School in Tokyo.
In addition to the concert proceeds, members of Chor-Farmer have over the years donated many thousands of dollars to the Chor-Farmer Trust Fund, which is used to support the Seikei Exchange program, and the choral sections of the Cowra Eisteddfod.
The choir will arrive in Cowra on Thursday evening, September 13 and depart on Sunday morning September 16, and will be billeted with Cowra host families.
Chor-Farmer was organised as a male voice choir of Tokyo University of Agriculture in 1967 by Hiroshi Masumoto.
All repertoires of Chor-Farmer are his arrangements.
Their songs cover a wide genre from folk songs and popular music to classical music.
In 2017, he was honored with the New Zealand Order of Merit recognising his long term efforts for the goodwill and cultural exchange in New Zealand and Australia.
