The AGM of the Central West Branch of the Australian Federation of Graduate Women was held last week with Sue Brown being re-elected as President, Anne Holloway and Christine Parker were elected Vice Presidents, Sally Delaney as Treasurer, Lois Foster as Secretary and Joan Hurst her Assistant Secretary.

The following Committee members, Cathy Starr, Alison Biddulph, Jenni Fagan, Jean Mary Fagan, Christine Delaney and Marianne Payten will take care of the HSC and the Barbara Wright Memorial Scholarship programmes and publicity.
Everyone is urged to encourage any girls who are sitting for the HSC in the Canowindra and Cowra schools to apply for a scholarship in December as the scholarship is not awarded on academic excellence only – application, enthusiasm and passion for a field of study are also taken into account .
We are pleased to announce that the next guest speaker, on Sunday, August 19 at 1.30pm, will be Jacinta Carroll whose topic will be “Terrorism and Counter Terrorism: Australian and Global Perspectives”.
Jacinta grew up in the Central West and served in the military in Iraq.
Jacinta is a graduate of the Australian National University and has post graduate qualifications in Management from Flinders University, Master degrees from University of Sydney and Deakin University.
Her Masters Theses examined the United Nations Peacekeeping and Asia-Pacific Regional Security.
Jacinta is also a graduate of the Australian Defence College’s Centre for Defence and Strategic Studies, the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Australian Graduate School of Management. Among her other achievements are completion of the Defence and Industry Study Course, the Australian Public Sector Management Course and the Middle East Diplomats Course at the Truman Institute, Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
Her career has seen her working in the Department of Defence and the Attorney- General’s Department, and in a variety of Senior Executive positions in Government.
In 2015 she was appointed inaugural head of the Australian Security Policy Institute and in 2017 she became the Director of National Security Policy in the National Security College. Her address will draw on her experiences in counter-terrorism and focus on the Middle East and Afghanistan.
Jacinta will be a stimulating and fascinating speaker and will be pleased to answer your questions on this interesting topic. The function will be held at the Cowra Services Club, Brisbane St from 1.30pm with afternoon tea being served.
