Thank you to the Cowra Guardian for giving us this space each month to keep our members and community up to date with what we have happening. The committee has been really busy and proactive with new initiatives & events
WOMEN IN BUSINESS
One of our initivates was starting our Women In Business networking events.
The first event was held back in November and was so well received that we decided to hold them quarterly.
Our next Women In Business is going to be held at Cowra TAFE on Wednesday 1/8/18 at 6pm with the hospitality students providing the catering. Di Johnson will be speaking about the course and what Cowra TAFE has to offer.
Claire Duff from The Canteen & Co Catering will be speaking about how she went about opening her new business, what drives her, her successes and challenges. Claire travels far and wide with her mobile catering van.
Also speaking will be Kate Alberry from Cowra Shire Council. Kate is launching a new initiative from Service NSW. This service makes it simple for all new businesses in the hospitality industry to get their business off the ground with just one form.
At every WIB event we also showcase a group doing fantastic work in our community. August’s guest speaker will be Kaye Chapman from Cowra Community Chest.
MASTERCLASS
Another event we have introduced to assist businesses within our community grow and develop.
Masterclass events focus around a different subject each quarter nominated by our members.
Our last event saw Ian Grant from Granted Digital Marketing teaching our members about social media platforms and how to make them work better for our businesses.
We had a huge turnout of around 50 members which we really appreciated the support and this makes us strive to provide more of these events for our members.
Ian also had a one off special offer on the night to work with any businesses that wanted to receive his services. This offer was very well received and Ian has been kept quite busy assisting our members.
Keep your eyes out for our next Masterclass scheduled for September ’18. If there is a subject you would like to learn more about please contact us through our website.
TRADEZONE
Yet another new event for us this year which members wanted us to get off the ground to help fill a void.
Focused around the trades and trade based businesses in Cowra. The first event was held at Cowra Plaster Works in May this year and was so well attended that we have now scheduled these events each quarter.
Our next event will be held at the new premises of Cowra Glass on Wednesday 15/8/18 at 6pm. Glen and Nicola will provide an industry rep to speak about their trade and also give us all a tour of their brand new premises.
Other speakers include a mental health nurse from Cowra Medical Centre educating us on mental health in the trades and some insightful information about getting help and helping others.
Marc McLeish is speaking on behalf of Cowra Rugby League about sponsorship and how to make it work for your business. Not just a name on a jersey but actually getting your sponsorship dollars to work for you and your business.
A HIA representative will also be at this event and attendance will gain you 2 CPD points.
