Cahill underwent surgery on a broken bone in his hand which he suffered after he fell from Dean Mirfin’s-trained Jetgirl about 200m from the barriers in a 1100m three-year-old maiden.
Cahill said he’s due to see a hand specialist next week and is hopeful of a return to the saddle sooner rather than later.
Anthony Cavallo replaces Cahill onboard Jetgirl in a maiden at Dubbo Turf Club on Friday.
Cowra jockey Eleanor Webster-Hawes also features in the 1000m race linking with Dean Mirfin’s promising youngster Worldly Pleasure.
The pair ran third at the track on debut earlier this month and will be aiming for improvement this time around.
Cowra trainer Andrew Molloy has Welcome Art and Denmix accepted in races on the day, however he has the option of racing them at Warren on Tuesday.
The eight race program at Dubbo Turf Club on Friday begins at 12.30pm with a maiden over 1010m.
