Contraband, drugs charges: Man, woman to front court | Video

A Dubbo man has been charged with trafficking contraband into a Central West correctional facility.

The man, who allegedly works for Corrective Services NSW, has been accused of smuggling drugs into the facility.

A woman, who has been identified as a partner of an inmate, has been charged as well.

Police will allege in court the man, who is a Corrective Services NSW employee, met with the woman, who is the partner of an inmate, to collect items to be introduced into the correctional facility in exchange for money.

Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Corrective Services Investigation Unit established Strike Force Balanada to investigate the introduction of contraband into correctional facilities.

Following extensive investigations, strike force detectives arrested a 36-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman at Eastwood just after 11pm on Wednesday.

Following the arrests, police seized suboxone strips (buprenorphine) strips.

The Dubbo man was taken to Parramatta Police Station and charged with three counts of agent corruptly receive benefit, agent corruptly solicit benefit, and drug supply.

The Guildford woman was taken to Ryde Police Station and charged with two counts of corruptly give/offer to agent benefit, and drug supply.

He was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday 8 August 2018.

The man’s employment with Corrective Services NSW has been suspended.

She was granted strict conditional bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on Monday 30 July 2018.
