The Sydney clubs’ top two grades will feature as part of a bumper day for the Cowra rugby club, coinciding with the Eagles and Bathurst Bulldogs doing battle in round 11 Blowes Clothing action.
The match marks a special occasion for Norths’ siblings Angus and Hugh Sinclair who’s parents own land near Greenethorpe and are big supporters of rugby in Cowra.
Unfortunately Hugh is expected to remain sidelined recovering from a broken jaw, however Angus will captain Norths at five-eight.
Burey said the brothers are passionate about bolstering bush rugby and are “super keen” about heading to Cowra.
“They’re super keen. Their folks live out there so that’s where the connection comes from. The boys go out there a bit to do some farming and get some fresh air. They’re pretty passionate about it,” Norths general manager Jack Burey said.
This won’t be the first time Norths have played outside Sydney having played games against Sydney University at Bowral this year and last season, however they’ve never ventured this far.
“It’s good for country rugby and good for rugby in general,” he said.
“We’ve been lucky enough to go to Bowral. They weren’t our home games, we were taken away, but when the opportunity comes up we like to take it.”
Northern Suburbs will enter this Saturday’s match in second position with eight wins from 11 games, while Eastwood isn’t far behind in sixth with seven wins.
“It’ll be a huge game. It’s last year’s semi-final and we’ve been close the last few encounters. It’s a healthy rivalry.
“It’s good to get them away from TG Millner Field it’s a bit of a fortress for them. It’ll be an absolute cracker.”
Saturday’s game kicks off at 3.10pm on the main ground.
