Items were chosen from all disciplines and included the winners of the Patricia Fagan Operatic Aria Championship – Oliver Boyd of Collingwood Park in Queensland, the Farleigh Instrumental Scholarship & Fagan Instrumental Recital winner – classical guitarist Dennis Van Rooyan from Dungog, Farleigh Junior Vocal Scholarship winner – Zoe Budge of Cowra, Dance Scholarship winner – Georgina Wills from Bathurst, as well as many other solo and group items from various sections throughout the eisteddfod.
Judges for the evening were our local Member of Parliament Steph Cooke, Jordan Core President of Cowra Chamber of Commerce, and Robyn Ryan from Cowra Music and Dramatic Society.
These three had the difficult task of choosing the winner of The Alma Hopkins Memorial Shield – for the most entertaining item during the concert. The chosen winner was Cowra Ballet School dance group – Torsion Youth Choreographic Ensemble, who were delighted with their win.
The Cowra Eisteddfod committee is extremely grateful for the support received from the local community, from the generous sponsors and the volunteers who come forward each day to help run the eisteddfod.
The next meeting of the Cowra Eisteddfod Committee will be held in the Multipurpose Room at the rear of the Library, on Monday July 2 at 7:30pm when work will commence on organising the 66th Annual Cowra Eisteddfod, which will be held May/June 2019. New members are always welcome.
