Club aces tennis weekend

The 24th annual Cowra teams weekend was played last weekend with 21 teams participating.

The teams came from far afield including Lithgow, Canberra, Murrumbatemen, Springwood, Sth Camden, South Coast, Bathurst, Orange, Forbes and Tumut. 

The A men's division had two pools of four teams, the winners of each pool and respective places played off on Sunday afternoon. The eventual winners were the Bathurst team of Alex Mitton, Matt Stewart, Harry Evans, Sebastian Seaman and Bryson Richards winning three of the four sets in the final against the Bye's (South Coast) captained by Markus Tarrant.

The A ladies was a surprise package with the team - Mixed Crew comprising Pauline Downes, Sonja Amey, Rebekha Fisher, and last minute fill-in Lucy Gomley having a clean sweep winning all their matches. Runners up in A ladies was Pam's Girls. 

The B men division was rather easily won by the South Coast  team (Forfeit) with 35 points and the runners up from Canberra (Old Guys) on 26 points. The winning team players were Col Armstrong, Shane Hilaire, Rich Lascelles, Danny Ross, Clayton Muller, Sarah Barrett and Lawrence Kinnear.

The B ladies division saw the Orange Exservices team of Chrissie Kjoller, Lindy Crossley, Janet Davenport and Sue Vaughan with 26 points victorious over Nutz (Canberra)on 20 points. The Nutz team players were Sandra Roughton, Jean Penny, Penny Moss, Allyson Gell and Julie Howe.

Plans are now underway for the Over 35's tournament on Saturday June 23 and Sunday June 24.
