Representatives of the Playground committee, the Cowra Services Club, the Cowra Men’s Shed, Councillors and Council staff were onsite at Bellevue Hill to unveil a new sundial, a lookout facing North West and the installation of a new table and chairs set, restored by the Cowra Men's Shed, as part of the Stage One works.
"Congratulations must go to the Cowra Nature-Based Adventure Playground Committee for the exceptional work they've put into getting the initial work to completion. Council now looks forward to working with the committee on the remaining stages," Cowra Mayor, Bill West said.
Funding of the initial works in the Cowra Nature-Based Adventure Playground was supported via Cowra Council, the NSW ClubGRANTS program via Cowra Services Club and significant fundraising and donations from the Cowra Shire community.
President of the Cowra Nature-Based Adventure Playground Committee, Pat Charnock was pleased to have the opportunity to now show Cowra Shire residents where their fundraising support has gone.
“With the unveiling of these initial stages, we can now say this is working! We look forward to working with Council over the coming years to realise this dream; for our children, our grandchildren and our great grandchildren,” Mr Charnock said.
“I would encourage the community and families to come and explore ‘Billygoat Hill’ and the wonderful spaces that have been created so far in the Adventure Playground. We are truly lucky to have this environment on our doorstep,” Mayor West concluded.
The Cowra Nature-Based Adventure Playground Committee have been actively fundraising over the past two years, to create a playground which not only provides a safe natural environment but stimulates imagination, creativity and learning for every person that visits the playground.
