Gavin Stuart Chatfield (40) of Wrigley Street, Gilgandra, was before the court charged with contravening an AVO and intentionally damaging property.
According to police facts, between 9.30pm and 10pm on March 18, Chatfield returned to his victim’s home and tried to gain entry through a locked screen door.
During this attempt, the force used by Chatfield caused the latch of the door to break and 30cm of cladding to come off the house.
At the time, Chatfield was very intoxicated from a binge drinking season that began on March 16. Chatfield was later issued with a provisional AVO on March 19.
Around 3.20pm on March 20, police received a call from the victim saying Chatfield was breaching his order. Police attended and found him laying on a lounge chair in the garage smelling of liquor. Police placed him under arrest for the breach.
Chatfield’s solicitor Mr Song told the court that preceding this incident, Chatfield had begun regular counselling and through his lack of further offending, the counselling was working and he was likely not to re-offend.
