For the first time Hayley took part in Woodstock’s Anzac Day march proudly wearing the medals presented to her great grandfather after he served in the Armed Forces during World War II.
Today’s march was witnessed by hundreds of Woodstock residents.
“He served in Papua New Guinea and received a Pacific Service Medal,” Hayley proudly declared after Tuesday’s march.
Her great grandfather William Annetts served in a tank division in Papua New Guinea providing vital information to the troops as a radio operator.
“I am very proud today that I have marched with my great grandfather’s medals, it makes me very happy,” Hayley said.
Atop an armoured personnel carrier driven by her grandfather Michael Hunt and a Ben Grunner driven by Robert Hunt, Hayley led the march followed by members of the Orange Highland Pipe Band.
Cowra girl Madeline Cain was a member of the pipe band with Woodstock the final appearance for the band during a busy day which saw Madeline also perform at services in Carcoar, Mandurama and Lyndhurst.
