The Group 10 second-rower labelled the 28-18 loss as a “hiccup” having one week earlier celebrated with his teammates such a promising round one 38-6 win against powerhouses Oberon Tigers.
The task this week is a tough one, facing off with premiers Orange CYMS at Wade Park, but Rainbow’s confident in his troops and knows what Cowra’s capable of.
”Last week we had a hiccup. We have strike power all over the park so it’s just a matter of turning up with the right attitude then I think we’ll go very close,” Josh Rainbow said.
“It was disappointing at home, trying to get people to come along and we put on a show like that.
“Our structure wasn’t really good in attack and our attitude wasn’t up to scratch. We’ve been back at training and working on doing those little things right.”
Thankfully, the Magpies have avoided any major injury concerns in the opening two weeks and coach Steve Sutton has been able to name a relatively unchanged line-up.
CYMS are coming off a round two 22-16 victory at Mudgee’s Glen Willow Stadium and had the bye in the opening round.
Rainbow’s expecting a physical contest and knows CYMS will be a difficult scalp.
“Mick Sullivan always has them primed every match. They’ll be physical but we’ll be trying to get over them,” Rainbow said.
“They have Chris Grevsmuhl I’ve heard he’s pretty good so I’d say they’ll play off the back of him and Mick [Sullivan].”
The main games set for a 2pm start with lower grades from 10am.
Cowra: 1 Jeremy Gordon, 2 Callum Clyburn, 3 Bradyn Cassidy, 4 Jay McClintock, 5 Zac Browne, 6 Warren Williams, 7 Joseph Bugg, 8 Zach Starr, 9 Benji John, 10 Blake Tidswell, 11 Mitch Browne, 12 Josh Rainbow, 13 Ronald Lawrence.
