Ada, at 87 years of age, can truly be described as an iconic Australian.
She has run her own art gallery in the heritage village of Millthorpe for over 20 years.
Those in attendance were treated to wonderful stories of Ada’s travels throughout the world, carrying all her painting gear with her and meeting many interesting people.
Ada’s favourite place to visit and paint in is Greece, which she has visited eleven times.
She brought along some examples of her paintings and placemats featuring her artwork which were greatly admired.
Ada said that she enjoyed the sense of freedom that her lifestyle has produced and is proof that it is possible for an artist to both make a living and enjoy lots of travel.
So interesting was Ada, that a request was made for her to return to a future meeting to continue her riveting stories of adventure.
Ada’s good friend and Cowra Evening CWA member, Pam Whitney was thanked for suggesting this wonderful guest speaker.
In other news, delegates to the annual CWA conference are making last minute arrangements to travel to Armidale for the five day 2018 conference which begins on April 30.
Representing our branch will be Ann Apthorpe and Leona Steen, who will be joined by other members of our branch representing South West Group CWA.
Rowena Casey reported on her two weeks spent in the CWA Tearooms at the recent Sydney Royal Easter Show, where 48,559 scones were made and sold, with the record day being Good Friday.
Funds raised will go towards supporting CWA’s projects.
Stay tuned for news of another exciting guest speaker for our May meeting.
