A former Cowra man has been sentenced to 12 months jail after being found guilty of common assault and contravening an Apprehended Domestic Violence Order.

Jolyon Youl Freebairn of Beecroft and former of Liverpool Street in Cowra received the sentence from magistrate Michael O’Brien when he appeared in Cowra Local Court on April 12.
Thirty-four-year-old Freebairn’s sentence was suspended on the condition he serve it under an intensive corrections order.
Freebairn had pleaded not guilty to both offences.
According to evidence presented to the court Freebairn became involved in an argument with the victim in the matter over a set of house keys.
This led to the victim claiming she somehow ended up on the ground at which point Freebairn started kicking her.
Under the Intensive Corrections Order Freebairn is required to be of good behaviour and not commit any offences, adhere to strict reporting, submit to alcohol and drug testing monthly and undertake community service work as designated. He is also not to leave the country without permission.
