The Raiders surrendered an 18-0 lead after 11 minutes to lose 30-28 at CBUS Super Stadium, Boyd making 13 carries for 129 metres in 36 minutes.
Ahead of the Raiders’ return to the nation’s capital for round two against the Newcastle Knights on Sunday night, Boyd said his side won’t squander another lead.
“We should have put the foot on the throat a bit earlier. It should never have been that close,” Boyd told Raiders TV.
“We have to move on from that game. I know we have to be a bit better and win those tighter games.”
