Whilst the show promotes the pastoral, agricultural interests of Woodstock and the surrounding districts, one of its primary roles is to assist with the maintenance of the Woodstock Memorial Hall.
At the recent meeting new president Mrs Di Brown presented a cheque to the Woodstock Memorial Hall treasurer Mrs Ann Graham for $5000.
Mrs Graham said the hall is in need of a lot maintenance and this will assist greatly.
In addition the show also made donations to community and charitable organisations within Woodstock and surrounds.
These include $500 to Cowra Riding for Disabled, $600 to the Dr Barbara Wright Postgraduate Scholarship Australian Federation of Graduate Women NSW Inc Central West Branch.
This year the show has also donated $1000 to the Hope for Lucas Campaign (Sanfillipo Syndrome research).
Long standing member and volunteer Rohanne Tiefel’s (nee Cooley) son Lucas has Sanfillipo Syndrome; fortunately his twin brother does not, without a treatment Lucas will not live to adulthood.
Funds donated will help aid research into this condition.
The Woodstock Memorial Show is the biggest annual event held in the village, it is run by the community for the community.
We have some new ideas in the pipeline for the 2018 show, be sure to mark Sunday September 2 on your calendar, guaranteed to be a great family day out.
