The green and golds are five points adrift of a finals place with two regular rounds remaining, and have the bye scheduled in the final round. On Saturday, Valleys successfully chased Canowindra’s innings of 219 with the loss of seven wickets and two balls remaining.

It marks Valleys’ second win in a row as they now turn their focus to beating, and leap-frogging, third-placed Parkes Colts this Saturday.

For Canowindra, the result spells the end of their season which has included two final-over losses and an eight-run loss since Christmas.

Sam McNaught scored 47 and took five wickets to again star for Valleys, however Jackson Moodie stole the limelight blasting 16 in four balls to secure the win.

Moodie went two, six, two, six off the first four balls of Brendan Traves’ final over to lift Valleys to victory and keep their season alive.

Earlier, Brendan Traves (58), Craig Carpenter (49) and Matt Harrison (48) all made contributions to help Canowindra post 219.

McNaught finished with 5-52 off nine and received support from Moodie (2-21) and Ben Cole (2-26).

Valleys’ chase began nicely as McNaught (47), Kane Schofield (11) and Jacob McNaught (43) laid a platform and got the score to 3-116 at drinks. Runs continued in the final 20 overs through Greg Garlick (19) and Scott Wilson (28) before four wickets fell in quick succession.

Jarrod Mason (17 not out) provided support to Moodie (36 not out) who was able to time the chase to perfection, blasting 16 in the final over and winning with two balls spare. Josh Carmody finished with 5-58 off 10.
