Rates are a vital source of income for Local Land Services as they support the organisation’s biosecurity, emergency response and animal health work across New South Wales.
In order to set a consistent rate structure across the state, and to meet the demand for key biosecurity services, a rates rise has occurred.
Work supported by Local Land Services rates include:
Our biosecurity officers and district vets provide an essential service.
- Central Tablelands General Manager Chris Cumming
- Protecting national and international markets through ongoing surveillance, animal health activities and stock identification and traceability systems
- Limiting and preventing pest outbreaks including supporting landholders to control pest animals and insects. This includes free/subsidised training and access to baits, traps and chemicals and supporting pest control groups
- Assisting on farm with herd health issues through our vet services
- Preparing for and responding to natural disasters and assisting farmers in the recovery phase
Central Tablelands General Manager Chris Cumming said the work carried out by Local Land Services ensured the protection and productivity of the agriculture industry across the region.
“Our biosecurity officers and district vets provide an essential service to farmers locally and all landholders benefit from the preventative nature of this work,” Ms Cumming said.
“Landholders also have access to our expert staff who can help them manage their land or livestock and meet their legal obligations.”
Ms Cumming said after listening to local feedback, strengthening on ground pest animal control and undertaking targeted surveillance and support for animal health were high on the agenda for Central Tablelands Local Land Services this year.
