John Charles Whelan, 40, was convicted on Wednesday, December 6 while representing himself in front of Magistrate Michael O’Brien at Cowra Local Court.
Facts say Whelan tore the blanket with his teeth before he used his hands to rip a five centimetre wide length off the blanket about 5.30pm on September 21.
His actions were caught on police CCTV cameras.
“It wasn’t a particularly clever thing to do,” Mr Whelan said.
“I was quite intoxicated.”
Whelan was issued a bond to be of good behaviour for a year.
