Sunday’s scheduled match against Bathurst at Twigg Oval was washed out, resulting in Cowra maintaining second position on the Western Zone Premier League ladder, with Bathurst four points adrift in third.
Due to Orange defeating Parkes, it means Bathurst’s the only side capable of knocking Cowra out with one round remaining.
Cowra travels to Dubbo on January 14 while Bathurst hosts Parkes that same day.
Sunday’s other match was played at Orange, resulting in an upset with Orange ousting Parkes at Country Club Oval.
Parkes is out of contention at the bottom of the table while Orange left its run too late having the bye next round.
Bathrust captain Jameel Quereshi isn’t ruling out Cowra causing an upset in Dubbo next month.
“Cowra’s got to play Dubbo and Cowra, they’ve got a pretty handy side, a quality side, so I wouldn’t write them off. If they beat Dubbo, then potentially it could be Bathurst, Cowra, Dubbo, if we win our next game against Parkes, all on two wins.
“Then it would depend on quotient, it could be a three-way tie sort of thing there.
“We were going in with that [must win] attitude against Cowra anyway. We have put ourselves in this position, we lost early on to Dubbo and didn’t get a great win against Orange, so we will just have to get ourselves out of that position.”
Cowra skipper Nick Berry was confident ahead of Sunday’s clash against Bathurst.
