Motor vehicles are also being targeted by opportunistic thieves, who are lifting easily removable items such as wallets, handbags and backpacks.
During the week to Friday, November 10, Inspector Adam Beard of Cowra Police reported five stealing offences from either a vehicle or premises, as well as one attempted steal from a car.
“In the wake of a number of similar stealing offences that have occurred, police would like to remind the community to lock their doors even if they’re home and inside at the time,” Inspector Adam Beard said.
“We have seen stealing offences occur when premises are still occupied.
“Similarly with motor vehicles. There has been an increase in steal from motor vehicles where offenders have found the opportunity to steal easily removable items.”
Inspector Beard said police are working on a number of leads but are seeking assistance from the public to help identify persons of interest.
