The bikes were purchased courtesy of a $2200 Triathlon NSW junior development grant aimed at supporting junior development (13-18 years) across that state.
Lindsay Cain of Cowra Motorcycles came to the party offering the club a great deal which allowed it to purchased the four new Giant brand road bikes.
The club now has 12 bikes which are available each race night for people without a bike. Eight of the bikes are suitable for competitors 10 years and under with the new bikes suitable for teenagers.
The bikes will enable the Cowra club, which races from the Cowra Aquatic Centre at 6pm tonight, to further engage with junior competitors.
Races cater for all ages and fitness levels with four courses ranging from the kids course, (swim across the pool, followed by a ride and run within River Park) to the two lap course (200m swim, 9km bike ride and 2km run).
To be successful in receiving the grant the Cowra Club had to have double the amount of the state average of junior club members, run club races that allow for junior participation and have an ongoing junior participation/development program with coaching available.
