A ROYAL Australian Air Force F/A-18A Hornet and the precision PC-9 Pilatus Roulettes will add some aerials thrills to the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 on Sunday.

The Hornet will conduct a flypast of Mount Panorama at 10am on Sunday while the Roulettes, the Royal Australian Air Force’s aerobatic display team, will appear in the skies over the Mount from 10.20am.
With the team flying as close as three metres apart, the pilots are able to showcase their expertise in visual judgment and hand-eye co-ordination that pilots across Air Force achieve.
The Roulettes can fly as low as 80 metres at speeds of up to 590km/h and can experience up to 4.5 times the normal force of gravity during a display in their six PC-9/A aircraft.
They demonstrate the skills of formation, aerobatics, low level flying and airmanship that all Air Force pilots are taught on pilots’ course and develop throughout their career.
The Royal Australian Air Force F/A-18A and F/A-18B Hornets are multi-role fighter aircraft. They can undertake air interception, air combat, close air support of ground troops, and interdiction of enemy supply lines including shipping.
These flypasts are subject to variables including air traffic control requirements, weather, and operational availability; as such, may be subject to cancellation at short notice.
