The Nissan driver pulled out a two minute and 5.39 second lap to better the record mark (2:05.646) he had set earlier in the practice session for the Supercars development series.
It’s certain to be a huge boost for Le Brocq for not only Saturday’s Super2 race but also for Sunday’s Bathurst 1000, where he will partner Todd Kelly.
Le Brocq record a 2:05.403 midway through the half hour qualifying session on Friday.
The red flag came out just moments after Le Brocq crossed the line.
The Commodore of Matthew Chadha had come to a stop at Griffins Bend, forcing the field back into pit lane.
When the field returned to the track it was Paul Dumbrell who got within striking distance of Le Brocq thanks to his lap of 2:05.738.
Todd Hazlewood then pinched second spot from Dumbrell with a 2:05.532.
Inside the last two minutes of the session Le Brocq was on another flyer.
He was able to maintain the red hot pace down Conrod Straight and into the run for home, improving his mark by two hundredths of a second.
Drivers were denied one last chance to go for a lap around the Mount when Jack Smith lost control at The Cutting.
Smith’s car was stuck on the outside wall, bringing out the red flag and then end of the session.
