A changeable September has seen Upper Lachlan Bushwalkers out in small groups nearly every weekend, fairly close to town.

The southern tip of Goobang National Park near Endeavour Dam, Parkes turned up a surprise wombat for the three walkers on the 3rd. Twenty flat-rock stacks balancing on a hilltop had us intrigued, as did the rock oven on a ledge overlooking Billabong Creek and the sun-lit plains extended.
Three accompanied Peter on his Wyangala views walk from Balancing Rock to Elliot's Lookout and return on September 10, including a look around the graves still existing at Mount McDonald Cemetery.
Just Anne and Geoff explored a delightful scribbly gum/grasstree/cypress/ironbark forest with a Kangarooby view in Conimbla, before heading back to give Ron's tree a drink after the previous day's hot windy warning of Summer's approach.
This Sunday, October 1 already has two car-loads keen to again spend a full day wandering the remarkable collection of plants growing and flowering in Burrendong Arboretum. You can still join this around-Australia-in-a-day tour of our incredible native plants - contact Geoff!
Most Sunday walks leave the Cowra Visitor Information Centre at 9am. Walkers are requested to contact the walk leaders a few days prior to the walk. Membership is growing at only $20 annually, covering Insurance and ULB affiliation with Bushwalking NSW. Cars to walks are shared, as is the cost. Non-members including accompanied children are welcome along on three walks as guests before joining. Catch one of us involved for more info or email upperlachlanbushwalkers@outlook.com for your interest to be passed on and responded to.
Although it's only a couple of weeks to the Grand High Tops and the grandeur of the universe on the Warrumbungles weekend away for a dozen or so, there are still a couple of bunk beds available - contact Jan Nilsen.
Jan also has a few takers for one night in Blackheath, Sunday, November 19 to descend into Centennial Glen, with another walk before driving back. And save the date for ULB Christmas Party on Saturday, November 25!
This Tuesday, October 3 is the next Monthly Meeting of Upper Lachlan Bushwalkers from 7.30pm at Cowra Services Club.
At that meeting, walks throughout October and perhaps November will be planned and emailed soon after. Come along or give someone your request or idea for a walk.
