Deputy Mayor Cr Judi Smith welcomed Inner Wheel members from Bathurst, Blayney, Dubbo and Orange.
Cr Smith acknowledged the contribution the members of Cowra Inner Wheel had made to the Shire: applauding their determination, hard work and imagination, their hosting of the official Australia Day Morning tea and the donations they had made to five Cowra Schools, St Vincent de Paul, Salvation Army, Cowra Eisteddfod, PCYC, Cowra Community Chest, Cowra Cancer Action Group and Cowra’s Renal Ward.
A50 District Chairman Janet Power of Blayney made the Toast to International Inner Wheel. Janet announced the International theme for 2017-18 as ‘Leave a lasting Legacy’ i.e. to inspire one another to pledge to make a difference now and leave it beyond our time.
President Diane Walsh told how the 2016-17 International Inner Wheel theme of “Touch a Heart” had been fulfilled by the club’s efforts including the donation of essential products to Hellen Horton of the Cowra Information and Neighbourhood Centre.
The donation of cuddly Cord Bears to newborn babies at the Cowra District Hospital. By catering for two of Cowra Rotary’s projects including the Red Radial Day, Cowra Inner Wheel Club had been given very generous donations by Cowra Rotary.
This had allowed them to then donate to the A50 Inner Wheel Project: the education of Daniel at Tanzania’s School of St Jude’s as well as the National Inner Wheel project of Australian Research into the use of Cord Blood to save lives.
Further donations had been made possible by two street stalls, and catering for the Inner Wheel A50 District Picnic Meeting at Cowra’s Men’s Shed.
President Diane thanked her committee for their loyalty and support and presented the Club's M and M Award to Sue Brown for her consistent effort and enthusiasm.
Heather Treasure was inducted as president of Cowra Club for 2017-18 by Diane Walsh. Heather congratulated Diane on her leadership and commitment as president for the two previous years. Heather introduced her Incoming Officers for 2017-18.
The Vote of Thanks was given by the A50 District Jnr Vice Chairman, Cowra member Anne Holloway and Merrilee Webster led us all in the National Anthem and a successful Changeover was concluded.
