Driver caught in unregistered car

A Cowra man has been ordered to pay $300 in fines after appearing at Cowra Local Court on a number of driving offences.

Adam Gregory Wall, 54, pleaded guilty to driving an unregistered and uninsured motor vehicle and use a vehicle on road – tax not paid.

The Lachlan Valley Way resident was stopped by police about 12.30pm on January 14 while delivering hay to Frogmore about 35 kilometres away from his home.

Solicitor Geoff Casey told the court his client has been an owner driver for seven years who mainly carts grain and fertiliser, and assumed he had a permit to drive at the time of the offence.

Magistrate Michael O’Brien said assumptions “get people in trouble” and told Wall “diligence and vigilance needs to be exercised.”

“Ensure before you embark on any journey that all the i’s are dotted and t’s crossed,” magistrate O’Brien said.
