Boyd was ruled out due to a knee injury suffered in Canberra’s 21-20 loss against Manly on Sunday, and missed selection in Ricky Stuart’s extended 21-man squad on Tuesday.
The extent of Boyd’s injury is yet to be determined, he will remain on the sideline indefinitely but the club is hopeful it’s only a minor medial strain.
Stuart has been forced to move Iosia Soliola to front-row allowing Luke Bateman to start at lock.
Fellow country boy Jack Wighton, an Orange product, is looking forward to match close to home.
“I can’t wait to get home and have a game in the country, I always love the crowds out there and Bathurst has a good ground at Carrington,” Wighton said.
“I reckon we’ll get a fair few numbers there you know, they really appreciate when we do get a game out there and giving back to the country a little bit is always good.”
This Saturday, gates open at Carrington Park from 2pm.
A Group 10 curtain raiser between Bathurst Panthers and Orange Hawks begin proceedings at 2.30pm before the main game set for kick-off at 5.30pm.
Raiders are ninth, Penrtih 10th.
