Fr Croudace, who was also celebrating his birthday on Friday, told the group about the people of the island of Santa Isabel and the work done by the church in the area.
“I’m not really an adventurer, or a really good tourist… I went because our Diocese has a partnership, that means, walking side by side, with the island of Isabel,” he said.
“They kept saying that could we come over and help them in this area, training some of the clergy.”
He said he was completely overwhelmed by the welcome he received by the locals.
“The church and society are very deeply connected, they gave freely of everything they could offer us,” Fr Croudace said.
“I felt so at home. I had five welcomes, singing, food… the relationship is so important. I cannot overstress the love and welcome.”
Attendees also raised money for books to send over to the Solomon Islands.
