
Three icons of Cowra recently met up in Cowra, all of whom were heavily involved in Cowras Sportsperson of the Year. Don Kibbler AM who was a builder, construction designer and Cowra Councillor. Don is well known for inaugurating the Cowra Japanese Garden and was Chairman of the Japanese Garden for many years. Don Kibbler also was a Director and sponsor of Cowra Sportsperson of the Year.

Barry Doyle OAM was a sports journalist at Cowra Guardian for over 40 years. Barry inaugurated the Cowra Sportsperson of the Year and is a founder of Cowras Sporting Hall of Fame. Barry also broadcast thoroughbred races, greyhound, bike and boat racing, played and coached rugby league and is a patron and life member of Cowra Jockey Club.
Gordon Sutcliffe worked at the Cowra Guardian for over forty years from the 1950s as Linotype operator, a wonderful sporting person playing golf and bowls and is current Patron of the Cowra Mens Lawn Bowls.
