Eagles need to play smart at Emus’ Endeavor Oval | Photos

Cowra coach Troy Hayes is urging his players to not get distracted by any questionable tactics from Orange Emus in round three Blowes Clothing Cup action this Saturday.

Hayes expects a bit of early niggle from his opposition, in an effort to put Cowra off their game.

“We just need to play smarter. In recent years they’ve come out and got under our skin knowing that we’d retaliate,” Troy Hayes said.

“We have to play smart and not get caught up in any of that.”

Hayes isn’t reading into reports that Emus are depleted, and says his troops will be focused on controlling the match by trying to dominate possession.

“We’ll stick to what we’re working on. Holding on to possession, controlling the ruck and controlling the game,” he said.

“I still think they’ll be tough all across the a park whether they’re under strength or not. They have second graders who know exactly what they have to do when they’re called up.

“So I don’t think they’ll be losing too much.”

The two sides meet on Saturday from 3.15pm.
