Cowra certainly fulfilled this year’s theme of ‘Let’s do more together’. The afternoon commenced with a very funny recitation by Norm Palazzi then it was time to get down to the ‘serious’ business of answering questions.
Twelve teams took part in this year’s Trivia Challenge. Katrine Capps stepped in to be Quizmaster when Lisa Roberson was unable to attend.
The first four sets of ten questions had everyone thinking and scratching their heads. The scores at the end of Round Four ranged from 34 to 17.
During the afternoon tea break of tea or coffee with scones and jam and cream, the two picture puzzles for extra points produced more chatter head scratching.
Then it was back to the final questions with plenty of competition to be the team to take home the perpetual trophy. Aqua Therapy 3 was victorious, taking out the trophy and prize money to assist with their group’s activities.
Cowra 3L’s (Cowra Senior Citizens) came in second, six points behind the winner. Cowra Croquet were third, just three points behind the 3L’s. Cowra Singers took out the Wooden Spoon.
The joint organisers of the Trivia Challenge, Cowra 3L’s (Cowra & District Senior Citizens) and Cowra U3A, thank Katrine for being a wonderful Quiz Master; the Cowra Bowling Club for providing a wonderful venue and afternoon tea; Cowra Shire Council for the prize money, Lisa Robertson for offering to be Quizmaster and preparing some of the questions, Bev Rolfe, Katrine and Don Capps for providing questions and, most importantly, everybody who took part.
From the amount of laughter and smiles everyone had a wonderful time. We look forward to another great challenge next year.
On behalf of everyone who enjoyed the activities that made up Seniors Festival in Cowra, a big thanks to Lisa Robertson, from Cowra Shire Council, and all of the community groups who make up the Seniors Week Committee for organising so many wonderful events.
From the amount of laughter and smiles, everyone had a wonderful time.
