Having started late last year Mrs Lewis is looking forward to a fresh 2017.
“I’m loving the students and working with them and the staff are absolutely outstanding,” she said.
“I actually started the middle of last term and worked for the last five weeks of the term, I’m very excited for a fresh year and leading Cowra Public into the future,” she said.
Mrs Lewis’ career started in far western NSW at Bourke, from there she taught on the far north coast.
Mrs Lewis has since been teaching in the local area, at Gooloogong, Greenthorp public (which was her first principal’s position) and most recently teaching for the last five years at Holmwood.
“I know the area quite well,” she said.
“I’m really looking forward to building relationships with the community, the parents and the families.”
“Looking at some of the exciting new directions in education as we go into the future and the new planing period in 2018.”
“Looking at where we take Cowra Public in the future is informing a lot of our discussions at the moment.”
“This year we’ll be looking at a lot of the great programs running in the school and looking at how we can build on them and enhance the great teaching an learning in the school,” she said.
Mrs Lewis hopes to knock down walls and connect the students globally.
“I’m very interested in futures education, looking at 21st century learning,” she said.
“I’ve been quite involved in looking at Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics and utilizing technologies we have accessible in our schools these days to really knock down the classroom walls and give our kids the opportunity to connect globally.”
“There’s a whole host of things I’d love to do and I think it’s prioritizing those but also knowing I have a great team here that’s going to help me achieve those,” she said.
