Continuing a strong stable partnership with Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, Hyeronimus produced two gutsy wins onboard maiden winner Poldark and five-year-old mare Funloving.
Despite the duel victories, Hyeronimus was ousted by Melbourne Cup winning hoop Blake Shinn who rode a stunning four wins from five rides to take the day’s top jockey honours.
Hyeronimus’ form follows a strong end to 2016 that included a career highlight – winning the Group 3 Summer Cup at Randwick on Boxing Day for Rose Hill-based trainer Gerald Ryan.
Hyeronimus combined with seven-year-gelding Red Excitement to lead from to start to finish, winning by three lengths from the David Payne-trained Foreign Prince in second.
This season, since August 1, 2016, Hyeronimus has registered 23 wins and 33 minor placings.
He’s racing at Wyong this Wednesday and is booked for two rides at Canterbury Park on Friday.
