Just under $2000 has been raised for the Rottweiler in the past few weeks after his human parents, Ashley Kilner and Jayden Gunn set up a gofundme page.
Ten month old Kovu has been having difficulties eating his food and keeping it down since he was a puppy.
He is suffering from Persistent Tight Aortic Arch (PRAA).
Dr Emma Sutton from Cowra Veterinary Centre said she has never seen the condition before.
"He came in and we thought it was a routine case," she said.
"It was something different."
The condition inhibits the growth and function of the oesophagus, thus restricting food passage to the stomach.
The couple were quoted $8000 by a vet in Sydney for the operation.
