Your new company
State-owned electricity infrastructure company operating across NSW and QLD in the process of setting up its contestable business operations. They currently have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Compliance Manager (Commercial) to provide strategic support to the Head of Regulatory Affairs. The purpose of the role is to lead the development, management and implementation of regulatory compliance frameworks to support the successful operation of the contestable business operations.

Your new role

  • Developing and implementing an effective regulatory compliance framework for a contestable business
  • Providing strategic advice to contestable business units on regulatory compliance obligations
  • Identifying compliance issues related to the development of new commercial opportunities
  • Providing advice to the customer and commercial team
  • Supporting the development of commercial opportunities in regulated and contestable business units
  • Effective risk management of compliance frameworks within the broader business
  • Leading and developing commercial compliance management plans, policies
  • Supporting licensing conditions for the regulated business
  • Coordinating regulatory audits and reporting findings to the AER in relation to ringfencing compliance
  • Management of all ringfencing obligations
  • Managing any new licensing obligations for the contestable business units
  • Interpreting changes in relevant existing and emerging policies, regulations, Rules, and codes
  • Assisting in developing a strong and credible regulatory submission to the AER
  • Effective advocacy support within the broader Regulatory Affairs team for relevant regulatory changes

What you'll need to succeed

  • Previous experience with AER’s Ringfencing obligations applied regulated gas or electricity businesses
  • Experience supporting commercial operations as a group of regulated and contestable business units
  • Understanding of the broader economic regulatory environment
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations and legislation
  • Ability to absorb, process and interpret detailed information
  • Strong commercial acumen, innovation, communication and influencing skills
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills and ability to manage relationships effectively
  • Politically savvy in dealing with a broad range of stakeholders with different interests
  • Tertiary qualifications in Law, Economics or a related field
