In the two sides’ previous encounter at the Cowra Rugby Grounds, young Roos halfback Patrick Berryman kicked a late penalty and scored a converted try to clinch a 22-12 victory.
But things have certainly changed since that date.
The Eagles have received a boost in the form of Fijian duo Joe Dakuitoga and Kali Nacina, and have kick started their season with victories over Orange City and defending premiers Forbes.
“We’re not at full strength but going off our last performance against them we’d like to think we’re a chance,” Col Jeffs said.
The Eagles slumped to 41-10 loss last week at the hands of Bathurst Bulldogs, following two straight victories
“Last week we fell back in the trap. With players unavailable we didn’t respond. We should have a full book with second grade this week,” Jeffs said.
The Eagles welcome back a cluster of players including captain Chris Miller from representative duty and gun centre Jeremy Montgomery who returns from injury.
Troy Jeffs has been named at halfback and Bill Cummins at five-eight.
The Roos beat Forbes last start 33-27.
“They’ll be confident,” Jeffs said.
