Residents are urged to monitor weather reports and health advice as the state is expected to experience heatwave conditions over Saturday and Sunday.
The Bureau of Meteorology warns temperatures are expected to increase from Friday with Cowra’s temperature predicted to hit a top of 42 degrees on both Saturday and Sunday, before a cool change back to 40 degrees on Monday.
Police also wish to remind motorists it’s not only an offence for children or pets to be left unattended in a vehicle, it can be deadly.
According to NSW Police everyone needs to take care in hot weather, but some people are at higher risk of heat illness, especially if they are older, live alone or are socially-isolated.
Livestock and pet owners are also being urged to ensure adequate clean water is always available and that cool shading is provided.
