This painting will then be auctioned by well known auctioneers Ross and Peter Chivers.
During 2006 Glenn approached members of Cowra and District Cancer Action Group (CAG) to hold a luncheon, Christmas Gift for Cancer, with one of Glenn’s paintings as the raffle prize.
The luncheon is now the group’s major fundraisers for the year and has grown in status to become one of the largest charity events on the calendar.
This year, the 12th Annual Christmas Gift for Cancer luncheon’s raffle prize will be a painting by well known artist Val Ward. This painting was in the collection of the late Mrs Trudy Berry and has been donated by the Berry family, Beth, Trish and Graham to the Cancer Action Group in Trudy’s honor.
Both Trudy Berry and Glenn Morton were foundation members of CAG which was formed in 1998 to assist local cancer patients. The late Janet Carr was the first President.
Since then CAG has donated medical equipment and other necessary needs to the local health service. Already this year CAG has provided vital medical equipment to the Chemotherapy, Dialysis and Palliative Care wards to the value of $42,000 with more equipment on order.
CAG has now provided over $260,000 worth of equipment to the Cowra Health Service since 2009. They are indeed proud to be associated with Glenn and Ann Morton in their local fund raising activities. They also thank the Berry family for their generous donation.
Last years luncheon raised numerous funds for the CAG with Glenn and Ann’s last painting being auctioned for $4000.
Luncheon tickets are available by phoning 6342 1440 with the cost being $30 per ticket. Tickets are available until Tuesday, December 5.
The Morton Gallery will be open for afternoon tea on Saturday, December 9 and Sunday, December 10, from 1pm to 4pm. All are welcome and all proceeds made will assist the Cancer Action Group.
