Cowra SES unit in conjunction with St Raphael’s Catholic School has recently completed a 10-week cadet program. The program is designed to give the cadets training in safety, teamwork, communications, principles of emergency management and team leading skills. The course concluded on Sunday, November 5 with a full day of training including land and water based search and rescue at Wyangala Dam.

Cowra SES Local Controller Karl Milic said that he is “very pleased that the school has actively participated in the program and the assistance of school staff and Cowra unit members in running the program has been excellent, ensuring that the program has been of enormous benefit to the students”.
SES membership is open to all people over the age of sixteen. The Cowra SES unit also has vacancies for administrative, logistic and operations centre volunteers. The unit trains weekly on Tuesdays at 7pm. For further information on volunteering, call the SES on 1800 201 000.
