Show President Anne Jeffery said the change to a weekend show was a huge success.
“The weekend show was an unqualified success, I had such positive comments about the pavilion,” she said.
“We had a huge gate on Saturday, not so much on Sunday, but we have to do the extrapolation of the two day passes to get a reasonable figure.
“We had beautiful weather, the sideshow guys were happy and we will have more for next year. We are negotiating to get more rides for the younger people and one or two more big rides for the teenagers,” she said.
Mrs Jeffery said apart from one or two negative comments, feedback on the weekend show was positive.
“We had one person complain about there not being enough,” she said.
“But we said that it will be different next year and from everyone else it’s been very positive, they were happy with the rides that were here.”
“We have a young group of showies who are prepared to move into the 21st century and not necessarily continue to do what we have been doing for the last 100 years,” she said.
Mrs Jeffery returning to the show’s agricultural roots had been a positive.
“The wood chop and the shearing were brilliant, “ she said.
“We may need to look at some rescheduling to make sure events aren’t clashing, but the wool competition was great, the animal nursery has had positive comments left, right and centre.
“The flowers section will probably be tweaked to make a few more categories for whats currently in flower seasonally.
“The farm produce was a bit disappointing but I think that was more to do with the season, it’s been one of those years where things weren’t growing as they should,” she said.
Mrs Jeffery said she was looking forward to next year’s show and hoped they would get more entrants in competitions now people have had a chance to see them.
“The Wife Carrying was hysterical, Six Bar was great, the same goes for the Rodeo and Demolition Derby,” she said.
“They were popular, with people all hanging around the fence to watch. I think that now people have seen them there will be a few more entries next year.
“We know we need more seats and that’s something we are working on in conjunction with the Trust and we are both looking at getting portable seating that can be used by anybody, anywhere,” she said.
Mrs Jeffery extended a huge thanks to all those who helped organise and run the show.
“It really is a team effort, we had the most fabulous support from all the people who worked and the people cleaning up, thanks to the whole community who have been involved.”
