Despite the rain 56,042 people attended Mount Panorama on Sunday for the 2017 Bathurst 1000, with a total of 205,693 through the gates across the four days of the event.

Numbers have only been eclipsed by the 50th anniversary event in 2012 when 207,205 people celebrated half a century of Australia’s iconic race.
“This event just gets better each year,” Supercars CEO James Warburton said.
“It is the biggest event in New South Wales and one of the largest in the country every year. And later this year we will finish our season with our very first race in Newcastle which will be massive.”
Before the start of the 2017 race the greats of Bathurst were honoured on the grid following their induction into the newly established ‘Legend’s Lane’ which next year will be a permanent tribute at the circuit.
The late Peter Brock, Jim Richards, Allan Moffat, Dick Johnson, John Goss, John Bowe, Allan Grice, Fred Gibson, Colin Bond, Kevin Bartlett, John Harvey and Bob Morris were the first to be inducted into Legend’s Lane.
Legend’s Lane will be built in conjunction with Bathurst Regional Council and be unveiled at the Bathurst 1000 in 2018.
“The atmosphere was electric and despite the rain early in the race the crowd loved the way the best touring car drivers in the world tackled the tricky conditions,” Mr Warburton said.
