In 1977, Ford created a special moment in motorsport history with a 1-2 finish at Mount Panorama with legends Allan Moffatt and Colin Bond crossing the line side-by-side.
On Wednesday Prodrive Racing team’s Mark Winterbottom and co-driver Dean Canto unveiled tribute livery on their Ford in honour of that iconic finish.
With the duo’s new car lined up against the original 1977 XC Falcon Coupe on Pit Straight, Mr Winterbottom said it was a special moment.
“That moment in ’77 was iconic, we all know it,” he said. “To run the livery and have not only the colours but to have Allan’s support and blessing behind it is pretty cool as well.
“It’s a great feeling, but it does add a bit more pressure to do it well.”
