Bonsley set the pace last start at Randwick on September 2, his first city appearance, but fell away from the chasing pack to finish ninth in a field of 13.
On Saturday at Rose Hill, the gelding will launch from barrier five with jockey Tim Clark aboard.
It’s a step up in distance by 100m to 1500m compared to the trip at Randwick – marking the furthest race distance Bonsley’s had to run.
The Highway Handicap is Bonsley’s fifth start in a promising career which began with a second at Coonamble, maiden win at Warren and a fifth at Narromine.
Don’t Give A Damn trained at Gouburn by Danny Williams looks the key hope in this race and will probably take some beating from barrier four with Kerrin McEvoy the jockey.
Dubbo trainer Connie Greig will saddle up Rising King in the same race.
Rising King is a seven-year-old gelding of 14 starts and is coming off back-to-back second place finishes at the Dubbo Turf Club, most recently on Sunday.
Apprentice hoop James Innes Jnr has the ride.
The TAB Highway Handicap is race three on the program set for a 1.25pm start.
