It’s finals time, with Eugowra hosting the elimination semi-finals on Saturday and Manildra’s Jack Huxley Oval the scene for Sunday’s qualifying semi-finals.

In Saturday’s elimination finals Grenfell takes on Peak Hill in first grade while Eugowra plays Canowindra in youth league and Manildra plays Condobolin in league tag.

On Sunday, Manildra plays Cargo in first grade and Condobolin in youth league, while Cago takes on Eugowra in league tag.

It’s do-or-die football for the Panthers and Roosters in what shapes as an entertaining game considering the last time the two sides met they played out a 36-36 draw.

Grenfell is a well-drilled, experienced outfit while Peak Hill’s backs are electric, led by captain-coach Jyi Cohen.

In Sunday’s second-versus-third clash, traditional rivals Manildra and Cargo face off for the right to take on Trundle in next week’s major semi-final.

It could be one of the best games of the year, with the two sides well-matched across the paddock with good forwards and great pace in the backs.

Manildra has the home ground advantage, while Cargo has the finals experience.

Defence will be key as will discipline.

Last time the two sides met the Blue Heelers shot themselves in the foot by giving away far too many penalties, which the Rhinos took advantage of.

Trundle won the minor titles in first grade and youth league, while Grenfell won the league tag equivalent, and earned the week off as a result.

The major semi-finals will be at Trundle too, helping the Boomers no end.

Action on Saturday kicks off at 12.30pm.
