Now’s the time to nominate them for the 2017 Cowra Youth Peace Award.
The annual award is coordinated by the Australian Chapter of the World Peace Bell Association and seeks to recognise a young person who has served the community by making a sustained effort to help others.
Nominations close on Friday, September 1, with the awards to be announced at the World Peace Day dinner on Tuesday, September 19.
“In these times of global terrorism and international insecurity, it’s important to foster and recognise peaceful attitudes and actions within our own community, especially amongst our young people,” Peace Bell Association Chairperson, Ian Brown, explained.
“We hope that individuals and organisations working and living alongside these young people will consider nominating them for this award.
Nominating someone gives them well-earned recognition, an official ‘pat on the back’ that lets them know we appreciate what they do” he said.
This year, the Peace Bell Association has extended the nomination process to the Rotary Club of Cowra Senior Peace Award as well, giving community members another opportunity to recognise hard-working volunteers in our town.
Nomination forms are available from Cowra Council, the Cowra Guardian office or can be downloaded from Council’s website at www.cowracouncil.com.au.
