One of the last remaining World War II veterans in Cowra celebrated his 94th birthday with friends and family last Friday, July 7.

Joe Partridge celebrated the occasion with an afternoon tea with close family at Bilyara Aged Care Residence.

Joe was born in 1923 and served in New Guinea during World War II as a front line forward scout. He met his wife Marj at the training camp in Cowra before shipping overseas to fight in the war.

When Joe returned from New Guinea, the pair married and remained in Cowra to start a family, with Joe becoming a farmer in the district.

Joe and Marj have three children, Lloyd Partridge, Janice Watt and Margaret Watmore.

The pair also have nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
