Four sides from the Cowra Netball Association will take part in three days of competition at venues in Penrith, Liverpool and Campbelltown, beginning on Saturday, July 1 and ending on Monday, July 3.
Cowra’s under 12s and under 13s are set to contest the division three championships, under 15s will challenge division four, and the under 14s side will look to carry momentum gathered from last year’s championship win into division two.
The under 14s qualifying for division two is evidence of Cowra’s strength in that age group, with the division stacked with teams out of Orange, Bathurst and Dubbo as well as Maitland, Lismore, Parramatta and Blacktown.
The under 14s take on Hastings Valley in game one, under 13s meet Taree, under 12s take on Tamworth and under 15s face off with Wollondilly.
Championships wrap up on Monday, July 3.
Meanwhile, Cowra’s under 17s side contested the NSW Samsung State Netball Championships in Baulkham Hills on Saturday, June 17.
The girls were dealt a number of injuries and were reduced to six players on the last day, eventually finishing 11th out of 20.
It was a disrupted season, one minute with a team and the next without it.
One week out from the state championships, the girls were prepared and ready to play numerous games of netball with only eight players.
Fighting hard, Cowra played some of their best netball of season and were still smiling at the end of the championships despite their battles.
Paula Saxby and Georgina Knight did a great job coaching, while a number of dedicated parents supported from the sideline helping and encouraging.
Olivia and Kristen were the umpires.
Team manager Mandy Charnock kept their spirits up all weekend and spent tireless hours behind the scenes preparing.
Under 17s – Bree Moodie, Jess McLeish, Maddie Brooks, Jade Browne, Alannah Knight, Yvette Langlands, Holly Proctor, Georgia Lewis.
